As I am getting ready to do the SITS 31 Days to Build a Better Blog Challenge that starts next week (more on that as it begins and progresses), I realized that I probably need to get my blog out there.
I was considering whether or not I wanted to make it a priority in my life to grow my blog. Then I got an email regarding the SITS31DBBB (The abbreviation for the challenge, since that is a lot to type out!) and figured I might as well give it a try.
One of the main points of the Challenge is to network your blog throughout the challenge and meet new people and follow and support each others blogs. One of the biggest pieces is with Twitter.
I am very afraid of Twitter. I have no idea why. Maybe it is that you hear about all the inappropriate things celebrities say on Twitter. Maybe it is that I feel like I already have Facebook and that is more than enough and I don't need to be addicted to another thing.
So this morning I went to twitter.com. It's just the basic sign-in or sign-up screen. It doesn't show me what it looks like or tell me what I am really getting myself into.
Then I freaked out and had to go research "should I use Twitter for my blog" and it gave me this link and then a PDF article. It definitely reassured me of the importance and how to use Twitter effectively.
Then I tried setting up a twitter account again and I thought oh wait, what if I want to have an account for me at some point besides one for my blog? Twitter only lets you have one user per email. At first I was like, "Crap." I don't currently or think I will in the future have enough emails from readers to really merit setting up a separate Ongoing Planner email. Back to Google, which led me to this which shows you how to have multiple emails according to Twitter, using one Gmail account.
Back to Twitter and I did it! Allow me to introduce and please follow: @OngoingPlanner!
Phew. I survived. I can do this. Let the tweeting begin!
(Any tips or tweeting suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!)
I really like this idea, I think a lot of times people get caught up trying to get their own blog out there that they just spam other blogs that they don't really care about..I like the idea of networking with other people/women with similar interests that you enjoy reading about. Good find.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! I'm @natrl_redhead on twitter so I'll find you.
