On May 30, 2013, at 1:52am Vander Scott Otley was born!
He weighed 8 pounds, 3.6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
We are so absolutely in love!
I
will detail out our labor story another time, but everything went well
and we were so excited for him to arrive. The first days at the hospital
were pretty fast, and we survived all the pokes and prods. Vander
passed his hearing test. He went down to 7 pounds, 13 ounces on day 1,
and maintained that for day 2, so that was excellent.
Things
have been going well since we got home as well. Sleeping was a little
questionable the first night, but the last two nights have been great. I
know I am jinxing myself writing it out, but he has been pretty
consistent on 2 hours awake, 2.5-3 hours of sleep, a feeding and diaper
change (about an hour), another 2.5-3 hours of sleep and then another
cycle. That leaves me with about 7 hours of sleep between like 10pm and
10am, which works out pretty well.
We had our
pediatrician appointment Monday and Vander is up to 8 pounds 2 ounces
(almost 2.5 ounces), so that means he only has another ounce or so to be
at his birth weight. He is supposed to be up there by 2 weeks, and he
was only 4 days old yesterday. I think that is a good sign he is eating
well.
We had our first walk and the first time using our
stroller. We have the Bob SE Revolution stroller and the
Graco Snugride 35 Classic Connect carseat. We went with the Classic Connect
specifically so we could use the Bob stroller. There is a new Click
Connect version for Graco now, but no adapter to use the Bob. I absolutely love the stroller. It is so light weight and easy to maneuver. Dylan had been making fun of how slow I walked the last couple weeks of being pregnant, and he said I am not back to full speed, but definitely much faster now.
We also had our first bath at home. It went much better than the one at the hospital. No crying at all until we took him out to dry him off.
It has been a great first week and I am so glad he decided to make his arrival early :)
